They will be responsible for collecting, storing, and primary processing

According to Bakhyt Sultanov, head of the Kazakhstani Ministry of Trade and Integration, the country will create a complicated logistic system for agricultural products.

«Within the framework of the commodity distribution infrastructure, it is planned to create 15 logistic centers for agricultural products. The centers will be located near manufacturers to collect, store and process goods. A network of wholesale distribution centers will also be created. These multifunctional centers might be a platform where manufacturers and customers can meet each other,» he said.

As Sultanov noted, under these measures, the country can build a system of modern wholesale markets and optimize goods delivery logistics.

«We already identified specific dates and places where goods distribution centers will be constructed. All akims (heads of local administrations) were instructed to be in close cooperation with investors and quickly remove administrative barriers if they appear,» he added.

The main partner of this project is the Asian Development Bank (ADB). On January 15, to implement the initiative, a new project management office was created under Kazakhstan’s prime minister. This office consists of various state agency officials and ADB representatives.

«We are now at the stage of active analysis. We want to complete this work before the end of February. After that, the specific volumes of the loan from ADB will be determined,» the minister concluded.
