Kazakhstan Will Reopen Air Travel between Nur-Sultan and Almaty

Today, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addressed the people of Kazakhstan and announced plans to reopen air travel between the capital Nur-Sultan and Almaty, the largest city of the country. 

According to the president, this step has high importance for many professionals including those who fight new coronavirus.

«Given the relative stability of the situation, the government will open flights from May 1 between the capital and Almaty. (…) At the same time, it is important to carefully consider all safety precautions, to develop regulations for the interaction of aviation and sanitary-epidemiological services. Partial quarantine relief cannot be seen as a return to normal life,» he said.

At the same time, the president announced a further extension of the emergency and related quarantine measures until May 11.

On April 1, all flights from the airports of Nur-Sultan and Almaty have been stopped to prevent new coronavirus from spreading.
