On March 30 all companies and enterprises in Kazakhstani capital Nur-Sultan and the country’s largest city Almaty will be closed. According to the official government website, this decision was made today; the ban will last until April 5, 2020.

According to the government press service, during the meeting of the State Commission on Emergency, led by Prime Minister Askar Mamin, Minister of Health Elzhan Birtanov, Nur-Sultan Mayor Altay Kulginov, and Almaty Mayor Bakytzhan Sagintaev, discussed the current situation in two major Kazakhstani cities.

To prevent further spread of the new coronavirus, the commission has decided to temporarily close all kinds of state-owned, private or stock exchange-traded businesses and organizations for a week from March 30 to April 5. However, governmental agencies, law enforcement, and health officials, as well as utilities, media, groceries, and drug stores, will continue their regular work.

The full list of those companies and organizations that should stop any activity for a week will be prepared by the emergency commission in conjunction with the Nur-Sultan and Almaty administrations.
