However, a registration procedure for them was simplified

An online VAT office for foreign internet companies was created by the Uzbekistani state tax committee.

According to the committee’s press service, the site will address Value Added Tax payments for earnings from software, mobile applications and games, E-books, movies, music and others. All foreign internet companies that work in the country, including Google, Amazon, Apple, Yandex, Netflix and Spotify, should obtain taxpayer status using the new online platform.

The procedure of foreign company tax registration may be completed through the company’s business account via a hyperlink.

These new rules are obliged for all foreign firms with representative offices in Uzbekistan. However, Uzbek tax service is not yet going to punish companies if they fail to complete registration before the deadline.

Meanwhile, according to the new Uzbekistani Tax Code which entered into power last year, all foreign internet companies that get profit in the country should pay VAT.

According to the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan, there are 22 million internet users in the country.
