According to the Association of Kazakhstan Automobile Business (AKAB) over the first nine months of this year, Kazakhstan has produced 63,559 vehicles of various types. This is a 25.5% increase over the same period last year when 50,660 vehicles were produced.

The Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan reported $1.1 billion of the combined value of all vehicles produced this year in the country. This is 32.6% more than the first half of last year ($883.6 million).

“The vast majority of these vehicles are passenger cars – 55,016 (+30.8%), heavy trucks – 6,971 (32.1%), buses (872), full trailers and semitrailers (489) and other machinery (211),” the association reported.

SaryarkaAuto Prom company from Kostanay accounts for more than half of these figures.

“The Kostanay plant has increased this year production of passenger cars, trucks and buses up to 38,309 items (+46.8%). Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan from the city of Almaty has made 19,585 vehicles. SemAZ from Semey has produced 3,155 commercial vehicles (+58.9%). KAMAZ Engineering from Kokshetau has produced 1,115 trucks (+43.1%), Hyundai Trans Auto in Almaty made 586 vehicles (+68.9%), Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan made 207 buses (-39.6%), and new manufacturing site in Saran, the Karaganda region ran by Chinese company Yutong has produced 143 buses,” said the association.

Among the five most popular auto brands which ran manufacturing sites in Kazakhstan are Chevrolet (23,556 cars), Hyundai (19,643), Kia (6,871), JAC (4,488) and GAZ (3,149).

“Export of cars made in Kazakhstan still plays a strategically important role in the development of the whole industry. Over the first nine months of this year, car exports have increased 43% to 7,816 vehicles worth $123 million,” said AKAB in the statement.

Most of the exports are headed to Russia (4,346 cars), Uzbekistan (2,968), Belarus (398), Kyrgyzstan (102), and Azerbaijan (2 vehicles).

Even though in August 2021 car sales slightly decreased (9,093 vehicles; -5.4%) if compared to the same period last year (8,734), the year-to-year performance is still positive.
