The number of flights will have been reduced from twenty to nine per week

Since April 26 Kazakhstan is going to reduce the number of flights to Turkey due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in that country.

According to the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, the Interagency Commission has decided to reduce the frequency of air travel with Turkey to nine flights. The decision will enter into force on April 26.

As of April 20, there are twenty flights between Kazakhstan and Turkey:

•        Nur-Sultan – Istanbul (two flights per week)
•        Nur-Sultan – Antalya (one flight)
•        Almaty – Istanbul (seven flights)
•        Almaty – Antalya (five flights)
•        Turkestan – Istanbul (two flights)
•        Aktau – Istanbul (one flight)
•        Shymkent – Istanbul (two flights)

Once the epidemiologic situation in Turkey is improved, all these restrictions will be lifted, according to the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan.

Earlier, the Committee of Tourism Industry of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan called on citizens to cancel their travel to Turkey. More than 50,000 new COVID-19 cases per day are reported in that country.

To reduce risks for Kazakhstani people, Ayzhan Esmagambetova, head of the Committee of Sanitary and Epidemiologic Control, has come up with the idea to reduce the frequency of air travel with the Turkish Republic. This suggestion was passed to the Interagency Commission, which approved it on April 14.
