Refugees are leaving the camp at the border between Poland and Belarus

Right after a phone conversation between the two countries’ leaders Angela Merkel of Germany and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, Middle East refugees have started to leave their spontaneous camp at the border with Poland, the RBK news agency reported.

According to the news agency, this is the second phone conversation of Lukashenko and Merkel this week. Some of the details of the first conversation were revealed by Eva-Maria Liimets, a foreign minister in Estonia.

As she reported, the Belarusian president had issued an ultimatum as he wants the European Union to recognize the legitimacy of his power and lift all the sanctions against Belarus. In turn, he promised to put the refugee crisis to an end.

Once the second phone conversation between Lukashenko and Merkel was over, the press service of the Belarusian leader reported that both sides agreed to negotiate all the problems in the bilateral relation on the top level. At the current moment, the EU has to designate people who will discuss those problem issues with the Belarusian side.

Soon after that, the Polish Border Guard reported on Twitter that the migrants who had previously organized a camp on the Belarusian-Polish border near the Bruzgi border crossing are leaving the camp in an unknown direction.

The situation on the Belarusian-Polish border started to deteriorate on November 8 when about 2,000 migrants from the Middle East gathered at the Polish border trying to pass through with no permission. To push them back, Polish border guards, police and military used tear gas and stun grenades.

Later, some Polish media reported that people nearby heard the sound of the shots and explosions as Polish law enforcement tried to prevent migrants from breaking through the fence on the international border. At the time the Belarusian border guards reported that Poland used force to expel people to the territory of the republic.
