Kazakhstan to Reduce Fee for Participation in Its Football Championship

The Kazakhstan Professional Football League is ready to ease financial conditions for clubs because of the reduction of their budgets.

The fee for the Championship-2021 will be lower than the fee was in 2020. For top division members, it will be 35 million tenge ($83,650) which is much lower when compared to $119,500 last year; for the First League – 15 million ($35,850) instead of 20 million ($47,800); and for the Second League – 5 million ($11,950) instead of 10 million ($23,900).

According to league officials, the reason for that move is simple – amid the pandemic, the Kazakhstani government has cut the funds for professional clubs and they need some support.

To make future championships more attractive, a new prize fund will be established. Thus, the total prize fund for Kazakhstan’s Super Cup, which will be held from March 2 to March 8, is about 40 million tenge ($95,600). The championship will host four football teams from Kairat, Tobol, Astana and Shakhter Karagandy clubs.

Participants of Kazakhstan’s Cup also have a new stimulus; teams that will be involved in the challenge will fight for a total prize fund at 250 million tenge ($597,500). The top division clubs will be rewarded by direct payments from sponsors. The Football Federation of Kazakhstan will not be engaged in these payments.
